Tory Lanez bail bid denied
Tory Lanez's latest attempt to dodge a California prison sentence just hit a brick wall.
The pint-sized rapper, who is facing a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot, tried to convince a judge today that he should be granted bail, pending the outcome of an appeal.
But Judge David Herriford wasn't having any of it. He shut down Tory's bail bid, and here's why.
First off, Tory's got a history of not obeying court orders and he is also not a US citizen, prompting fears that he may try to flee the country if he is granted bail.
He's been locked up in Men's Central Jail since January, and its not clear when he will be transferred to state prison but the denial of bail pretty much ensures that this transfer will happen at some point.
Despite his bail bid being vehemently denied, the rapper seemed to be in high spirits, according to reports.
He reported flashed a grin at his supporters in the courtroom.
Tory's defense attorney, Matthew Barhoma, had some fiery words to share following the bail denial. He thinks this whole deal is a miscarriage of justice. He's saying Tory isn't a flight risk, and isn't a danger to society.
Bahoma feels like Tory's getting a raw deal, especially because of his celebrity status. He is convinced that another non-celebrity defendant facing the same charges would've gotten a different outcome.
Quick recap: Tory got slapped with a 10-year state prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion back in 2020. Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, took a bullet in the foot during a heated argument that went down after a party at Kylie Jenner's Hollywood Hills crib. Tory has denied all wrongdoing.
