“Music is in my heart”

Lil’ Kim expressed in a recent interview with Neighborhood Talk 411 where she discussed her upcoming 6th album & other projects she has in the works.

Just in time for Spring, Lil’ Kim and Tayy Brown (upcoming artists QB has been mentoring), have released a FRESH track “Love For Ya” released under her record label “Queen Bee Entertainment” which was founded in 1999.

Lil’ Kim has been reinventing her sound since her debut album “Hard Core” in 1996. Kim’s sophomore album “Notorious KIM” was infused with pop, singing & playful, new vocals. Though at the time “Notorious KIM” received some pushback from her fans, The Beehive, it has become one of her most beloved, successful, and influential albums.

Hearing “Love For Ya” feels similar to the changes sonically of “NK”. QB’s vocals are a bit lighter, the flow and conviction is more relaxed. As a long-time fan, I am truly pleased with this track and can tell Lil’ Kim had fun creating this along with Tayy.

“Love For Ya” is all about having a genuine connection with someone with ease. Kim expresses her loyalty but maintains her no-nonsense stance. Respect the Queen and she will “ride til the wheels fall off”! “Stay down for the come up”  Kim says, when she’s down the ones who truly matter are there for her! Not just when she’s on top!

On the flip side, “Life on dnd gettin money in the mean time” Lil’ Kim has been booked with performances, working on a new album, launched her cannabis line, and has her memoir “The Queen Bee” in the works, co-written by Kathy Iandoli.

“Ain’t got no friends, I don’t get paid enough to be kind” lyrics from “Love For Ya” reminiscent of “Spend A Little Doe”, Lil’ Kim keeps her circle tight following being taken for granted and advantage of in the past. Kim has always been “loyal to a fault” and now she expects the same in return, rightfully so!

At this point in her career, after 5 albums, a Grammy & countless awards, top charting songs, classic Hip Hop/ Rap records, legendary & iconic status… Lil’ Kim should be more than free to create music how she wants to be able to express her ever-evolving artistry.

No matter how you cut it, how much disrespect or discredit Lil’ Kim receives she will ALWAYS be the most influential female rapper to the modern generation. (Shout out to Missy who leaves a massive fingerprint as well, there has always been, & always will be more than 1 Queen of Rap)

The Queen Of Rap title was given to Lil’ Kim, she put in the work and created blueprints with her albums, lyrical content, and of course her fashion.

Lil’ Kim will always be felt, not just in rap, but fashion and pop culture as a whole.
