Nicki Minaj won't be participating in Halloween dress-up this year
Halloween is usually an exciting time in the celebrity world as fans get to see their faves dressed up in costumes. It's become a bit of a Hollywood tradition.
But fans of rapper Nicki Minaj won't be getting a gag-worthy Halloween look as Minaj has announced that she's skipping the costume tradition this year.
Minaj said her decision to not participate was due to being focused on her album.
She wrote in response to a fan:
“...as we all know I’m held to a very different & sometimes unrealistic standard. Not all the time, but @ times. So tbh, when it comes to the quality of this album & everything surrounding it, I’d actually rather NOT multitask- this 1 time. YKWIM? the ppl deserve it?”
Minaj seems to be putting all her energy into her upcoming album "Pink Friday 2" which has been pushed back several times and is now being promoted with a December 8 release date.
Minaj's fans are no doubt disappointed in her decision to skip Halloween 2023. The rapper previously dressed up as Harley Quinn while her husband Kenneth Petty dressed as the Joker for Halloween 2019.
In 2022, she dressed as a bare-bottomed Cinderella.
In 2022, she also did a family-themed Halloween shoot with Petty and her son "Papa Bear". The trio dressed as the family from the classic movie "Honey, I blew up the kid".
Petty received criticism for the latter photoshoot as his ankle monitor was visible through his pants, putting a damper on an otherwise wholesome family photo. Petty was, at the time, serving a year of house arrest for failing to register as a sex offender stemming from a 1994 attempted rape conviction.
Coincidentally, despite completing this initial house arrest, Petty is back serving another 120 days of house arrest after violating his probation by filming himself issuing death threats to rapper Offset, the husband of Minaj's rival Cardi B.
A costume won't be the only thing Minaj is skipping though. As a registered sex offender, Petty is not allowed to have Halloween decorations at his residence nor participate in the "trick or treat" tradition where candy is given to neighborhood children.
