City Girls Album "Raw" Flops With Only 10K Sales
The City Girls' new album, "Raw," has flopped commercially, selling only 10,000 copies in its first week of release. The album debuted at #117 on the Billboard 200.
This is a decrease from their previous album, "City on Lock," which sold 19,000 copies in its first week.
The poor performance of the album has resulted in ridicule for the pair across social media, with some people admitting that they expected the two to do better, seeing as JT seemingly had the support of "barbz", Nicki Minaj's large fanbase.
Barbs previously crowned JT the "Princess of Rap", before revoking the title and passing it on to Ice Spice. But the barbz, who notoriously show up to support JT's tweets, failed to show up to support her music.
There are a number of possible explanations for the album's poor performance.
Some critics have argued that the album is too similar to the City Girls' previous work and that it lacks new ideas. Others have said that the girls have lost their chemistry, and it shows in the music.
Others speculate that the album flopping was due to poor marketing and promotion. The group announced the album just days before its release and did not make many media appearances to promote it.
For her part, Yung Miami didn't seem fazed by the album's performance.
Speaking on previous projections that the album would sell between 6k- 9k, Yung Miami tweeted:
“That’s good for a b#### who voice y’all hate and can’t rap.”
