Megan The Stallion and former record label 1501 Certified Ent settle legal battle.
The three year long legal battle between Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion and former record label 1501 Certified Entertainment over an unfair contract, has come to a settlement this week and both parties have parted ways.
1501's President Carl Crawford took to Instagram on Thursday (10/19) to issue the following statement:
Megan sued the label back in March of 2020, after 1501 Certified Ent refused to renegotiate her contract.
In the suit, Megan says that the contract she signed, with 1501, demanded they get 60% of her recording earnings leaving her with 40%.
She also claimed that all her earnings go to paying engineers, mixers, and artists featured on her songs. Saying she is not left with enough money to live on.
The Houston rapper added that her contract allows all the money from tours and concerts go directly to the label.
In February of 2022, Megan sued the label again when 1501 wanted to declare that her 2021 album "Something for the Hotties" shouldn't be considered an album.
It was also around that time when Megan went on social media to say she hadn't received a dime from any of the albums she recorded on 1501.
In February of this year, Carl Crawford acknowledged his mistakes regarding how he went about handling his legal issue with Megan and that he hoped to reconcile with her in the future....
