Birdman and Azealia Banks defend Cardi B over "industry plant" allegations
Birdman has made it clear that he does not believe Cardi B is an "industry plant".
The Cash Money Records founder came to Cardi B's defense when asked to comment on the "industry plant" allegations made by Kanye West (Ye).
Earlier this month, a video was leaked onto social media of Ye discussing Cardi B and other artists.
In the video, Ye claimed Cardi B was an "industry plant" masterminded by the Illuminati. He even goes as far as claiming she doesn't write her own raps and was intentionally placed to take Nicki Minaj's spot.
Well, Birdman was asked his thoughts on the issue, and he made it clear he was not about to be a part of discrediting Cardi B and said he wasn't interested in tearing down another artist.
He said, "I ain't see that for her and I don't really pass judgement on other people's things...that's just not my thing."
He made a solid point about how much sweat and grind goes into making it in the music business, and he wasn't about to throw shade on anyone's hustle.
"I don't believe in downplaying people in the music industry in no kinda way. Because if you in this sh*t, you know how f*king hard it is. If you in this sh*t, you know how real it is. If you in this sh*t, you know that n* die in this sh*t."
Also coming to Cardi B's defense, rapper Azaelia Banks took aim at Ye in an Instagram story.
"Just when you want to defend Kanye he goes and does some shit that is just stupid, has no comedic or artistic value, and I cannot stand to see a p*sy motherf* try and be a bully," she wrote.
"Is Kanye mad at Cardi because he has SIXTY ghostwriters and NONE of them have topped Bodak Yellow?!”
It is worth noting that the leaked footage of Ye was filmed in 2018.
Ye has since changed his tune, praising Cardi B in a 2022 interview with Hollywood Unlocked's Jason Lee.
In the interview, Ye said he always believed in Cardi B and hailed her as his "hero".
Ye went on to collaborate with Cardi B and Lil Durk on their 2022 single "Hot Shit".
