Megan Thee Stallion's track "Hiss" has soared to the pinnacle of the music charts, taking the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and now achieving number one on both Billboard’s Global 200 and Streaming charts.
In its debut week, "Hiss" accumulated an impressive 39.6 million official streams globally.
It's noteworthy that hip hop tracks seldom lead the Global 200 chart, yet Megan has managed to secure this achievement twice, previously with the hit "WAP" in collaboration with Cardi B.
Doja Cat, with her single "Paint the Town Red," and male rappers Drake and Jack Harlow are among the few other artists who have reached the summit of this chart.
Megan's triumph on the "Streaming Songs" chart marks her fourth time topping this chart, joining the ranks of Cardi B, Lil Baby, and Miley Cyrus, who have also achieved four number ones since the chart's inception in 2013.
Drake, however, holds the record with 20 number ones.
In a celebratory gesture earlier this week, Megan Thee Stallion took to Instagram Live, enjoying Hennessy through a straw, a nod to a line from Nicki Minaj's "Big Foot" (which debuted at No. 23 on the chart) to which Minaj spit. “Your flow is such a bore/ Drinkin’ a bottle of Henny through a straw.”
Moreover, Megan addressed Nicki's accusation of her gaining an unfair advantage through the support of a major industry "machine" in their ongoing dispute.
She clarified that the success of "Hiss," her prior single "Cobra," and her forthcoming album, were the results of her own investment, without external financial backing
“When I say I went in Megan Pete’s bank account and paid for ‘Cobra’ and ‘Hiss,’ like… them two videos, my whole studio time for this album that’s about to come out, all of that shit came out of my pocket,” she said.
“This is my first time since my momma been alive that I’ve really carried the weight of paying for my whole shit. So to see how much y’all love ‘Hiss’ and ‘Cobra,’ I’m like, ‘Wow! We did that!’”
Nicki Minaj had alleged in a discussion with Joe Budden on X Spaces that Megan's management company, Roc Nation, had employed bots to boost "Hiss" and had financed negative online campaigns against her.
Minaj doubled down on her opinion after “Big Foot” earned the most first-day streams on YouTube for a female rap song in 2024, posting to social media: “This is what happens when you think FAKE BOTS, PAID BLOGS & FAKE STUNTS will win the war in 2024. this is thinking you that bitch then running into THAT BITCH.”
One thing we know for sure is that Megan has some things to say, and WE ARE HERE FOR IT ALL!
Congratulations Megan!
