Latto Claps Back at Ice Spice with Her Latest Track "Sunday Service"
Latto has unleashed her latest single, "Sunday Service," which seems to be aimed at fellow rapper Ice Spice.
The verbal spar ignited when Ice Spice, hailing from the Bronx, subtly called out the "Put In Da Floor" artist in her track "Think U the Shit (Fart)," with lines that hinted at a beef: “I got my foot on they necks, I can’t let up/ She all on the floor, told her get up.”
Latto's response in "Sunday Service" is sharp and unapologetic.
“Think I’m the shit, bitch, I know it, ho/ Jesus walked on water, I got ice boilin’ though.”
The track doesn’t shy away from throwing more veiled jabs, including critiques on authenticity and courage in the industry: “These bitches corny, soon as monkey see, then you know monkey do/ Do you rap or do you tweet?/ ‘Cause I can’t tell, get in the booth, bitch” and questioning why there's hesitation for a direct confrontation: “I just want a one on one, don’t know why she so nervous.”
Moreover, Latto doesn't mince words about potential future encounters, hinting at escalated tensions if both artists end up performing at the same events: “Every time y’all book me with them hoes, it’s gon’ be big drama.”
In anticipation of the song's release last Friday (February 9), Latto shared insights into the track on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, hosted by Gillie Da Kid and Wallo. She described "Sunday Service" as a tribute to female rappers across generations, even the ones she is beefing with.
Latto had the internet buzzing when she dropped an alternate cover for the single earlier in the week featuring Latto against a backdrop of female rap icons like Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Kim, Missy Elliott, and notably, Ice Spice herself.
Ice Spice had previously confirmed that her song "Think U the Shit (Fart)" was indeed a dig at Latto, stemming from when Latto posted a music snippet that inadvertently featured Ice Spice's video in the background.
Things are heating up between the two (to say the least).
We hope it doesn't go too far and the ladies just release good music and have fun doing it!
