It's Christmas Time and the rap community is embracing the spirit of giving by delivering gifts and spreading holiday cheer. Artists like Latto and Cardi B give back to their communities just in time for the holidays.
On Saturday, Dec. 16, at her third Christmas In Clayco event, Latto doubled her philanthropic contributions by donating over $500,000 in gifts from brands she collaborates with, including UGG, Savage x Fenty, Apple, Wingstop, and more.
Presented by her Win Some Give Some foundation, which aims to support at-risk youth by providing resources and self-esteem support for equal opportunity and success.
Plenty of smiles were seen as rows of televisions, bicycles, and countless toys filled the room.
District 1 Commissioner Dr. Alieka Andersonhad, who co-hosted the event with Latto, had this to say before the event.
“We are ecstatic to bring back Christmas in Clayton for the third time,” said District 1 Commissioner Dr. Alieka Anderson. “This event allows us to give back to Clayton County residents and children just in time for the holidays. Words cannot express how amazing it is to have Latto return to Clayton County to help spread some holiday cheer throughout our community. Her generosity is sincerely appreciated for our children and our community.”
All of this took place two days before the first annual Latto Day in Clayco County.
It seems the perfect way to celebrate!
Thank you Latto!!
Cardi B stopped by the Newburgh Armory in the City Of Newburgh this week.
"Her visit made this holiday season truly special," the Newburgh Armory stated. "Thank you to the team of people who helped put this event on for our families!"
The rapper was in the City of Newburgh to help the Newburgh Armory meet with children and hand out toys.
"This was awesome and thoughtful of Mr. Kaplan and Ms. Staples who organized this for the children who attended the Newburgh Armory Unity Center programs. I observed the smiles on the children faces as they took pictures with Cardi B and received their toys provided by Toys for Tots," Pastor RD McLymore told the Hudson Valley Post.
“I think it went well, seeing the amount of parents that actually showed up with their kids. It was a great turnout because a lot of these kids didn’t mind, especially the parents who didn’t mind sitting out there waiting in line, to be able to get a chance, even if it only lasted a few seconds to be able to get a chance to see Cardi B in person, to be able to see that smile, it put a smile on the kid’s face and Cardi B’s so I’m very grateful that it happened and I’m happy that I was able to be a part of it,” said Louis. “It genuinely brings me joy to be able to see the kids, be able to see the smiles on the kids faces when they get these toys. Me and my team, we take pride in the kinds of toys that we give out.” said Sergeant Samuel Louis who led the efforts for the event.
Newburgh Armory Director of Operations Max Cuacuas, along with his staff, the City of Newburgh Police Department, and the additional Marines and service personnel present helped make the event run smoothly and safely for the under 100 families from the Newburgh Armory’s programming in attendance.
The connection between Cardi B and the Newburgh Armory came from Armory basketball coach Ashley Staples, who is also a personal friend of Cardi B and invited her to come to the Armory and celebrate with the families of Newburgh. Cuacuas noted that Cardi B stayed until every person got a photograph with her.
